K-State Students Destress by Finding Their Rhythm

At least once a week Kansas State student Aaron Magill slumps down with his friends on their living room couch and turns on their speakers. As the latest hip hop music filters through the speakers, they can finally let the tension bleed away after a stressful day.

It might not sound like anything special, but this ritual keeps Magill ahead of his class, and maybe others around the country.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, more than 80% of the 61.2 million college students in the U.S. experience stress daily or weekly. Magill is among the 18.5% who see value in taking a time-out.

“Life can be hectic and overwhelming. You should find time to do what you love to do, like vibing with your friends,” Magill said.
